While Sprint has been confirmed as the official launch partner for Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone in the US, Sprint’s launch exclusive is a little less exclusive than what we’re used to seeing in this space. The Essential Phone is loaded with enough radios to work across multiple networks, and will be sold as a carrier unlocked phone.
Rubin’s goal is to avoid installing any carrier specific apps on the phone when it launches, but since Samsung can’t seem to pull it off, there will probably be some Sprint “Craplets” to deal with when it rolls out.
